The Earl Woods Scholar Program was created in 2006 to honor the vision and spirit of the late Earl Woods, Tiger’s father and mentor, and continue his legacy of sharing and caring.

TGR Foundation empowers youth to pursue their passions through education. The Earl Woods Scholar Program provides students an unparalleled network, admissions and career counseling, financial assistance, dedicated mentors, specialized internships and vital workshops. Our 12th grade program model aims to help high-achieving high school students who demonstrate financial need, show a commitment to community service and have plans to enroll full-time in an accredited four-year university in the United States in the upcoming academic year. 

GENERAL INFORMATION 

-  Eligible candidates are graduating high school seniors who have  demonstrated academic excellence, commitment to community service and financial need.  
-  Annual scholarship award is up to $5,000 (renewable for up to four years).  
-  Scholars will participate in workshops throughout the year.  
-  Scholars will be matched with a dedicated mentor.  
-  Scholars will receive career-building opportunities.  
-  Scholars will be provided with career development services for post-baccalaureate plans.  
-  Scholarship finalists must be available for an in-person interview in April/May 2026.

 
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 

- Student must be a graduating high school senior from a geographic area and/or high school that has been invited to apply.
- Student must have a 3.0 minimum GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Student must demonstrate financial need and a commitment to community service.
- Student must enroll full-time in a four-year degree program, at a U.S. accredited, not-for-profit, private or public university immediately upon high school graduation.
- Student must participate in a mandatory in-person Pre-College Retreat and Scholarship Orientation on July 8-10 2026.

Please submit a typed, double-spaced, 400–700-word essay in 12-point font for each topic listed below (two essays total). Include your name and essay prompt number on the top right corner of each page (i.e., Alma Gutierrez #1). Please note that you are only able to upload a Word Document or PDF copy.

Describe yourself and explain how your family, community and personal experiences have helped to shape you. How have they influenced your goals for the future? This should be very personal – about you as a human being.

What have you done to make an impact in your community? Why are you involved in this activity, and what do you hope to accomplish?

Recommender Information

This section provides us with more information about your recommenders.

Our application requires two recommender forms to be completed by a teacher, counselor, community member or adult leader that knows you well.
